CAMP SONGS

For the friendships and the days together,
For the glorious sunshine and the mountains blue,
For the strength and love at Yonahlossee,
Father, we thank Thee; may we e'er be true.

SPRINGTIME AND YONAHLOSSEE CALLS

Springtime and Yonahlossee calls
From mountains towering high.
Wickiup and cabins nestle
Low beneath the sky.
And all the pine trees now sing together
Calling you and calling me
To come to Yonahlossee Camp
And live the outdoor life so free.

Summer and we are coming back
To Yonahlossee dear.
Back up to the hills and to
Our life of joy and cheer.
Where all the memories of days together
Call and bind our hearts forever,
And though we may wander far
To you, we'll evermore be true.

HIGH UP IN THE MOUNTAINS

High up in the mountains, at Yonahlossee Camp so dear,
Cloudy hours or sunny days, a life of joy and cheer.
Seated round the council fire, beholding all this glorious view,
Towering peaks an inspiration to work and make our dreams come true.
Free here to choose our work and our play, friends to guide us in each endeavour:
Swimming, canoeing, riding, or shooting, weaving, or dancing, (clap- Sorry, Rats)
What a free life!
Blazing new trails or seeking new views, making each day a new discovery.
Joys here before us, camping's glorious! Our Yonahlossee way!

HIGH IN THE MOUNTAINS

(tune of "O, Solo Mio")
High in the mountains
Is Yonahlossee,
With cabins reaching
Up to the sky.
While trees are swaying
Our hearts are saying
Keep us close in your arms
As time slips by.
Oh, Yonahlossee,
We love you so;
The happy hours
So quickly go.
And leaving,
We all will pray
We'll meet again
Some summer's day.

LET THERE BE PEACE ON EARTH

And let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be.
With God as our father
Brothers all are we.
Let me walk with my brother
In perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now
With every step I take...
Let this be my solemn vow:
To take each moment
And live each moment
In peace eternally....
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.

PEPPIEST CAMP

The peppiest Camp I ever saw
It never comes a pokin'.
And if I told you the pep it has
You'd think I was a jokin'.
It's not the pep of the pepper pot
Or the pep of the popcorn popper.
It's not the pep of the mustard can
Or the pep of the vinegar stopper.
It's good old-fashioned P-E-P,
The pep you cannot found.
Yonahlossee pep. Yonahlossee pep.
The peppiest camp around!

POEMS

To Paradise

(by Kathy Foster 1979)
Time, like people, travels
And with each new minute
Or each new face
One remembers the simplicity
The joy
The love,
For the memories will be the strength
For the joys of each new day.

Our mountain home

(by counselor Beth O'dom)
Although we come from various places,
some near, some far away,
we all are here as a family to live and learn together.
We grow in spirit through the friendships we've made
to carry us through our days.
The love we've found will not soon be lost.
Though we may be worlds apart,
as we live our lives throughout the years,
We will always remember the happy times we once shared
in our mountain home...Yonahlossee

Day is done. Gone the sun - from the lakes, from the hills, from the sky. All is well. Safely rest. God is nigh.
